Great read! I don’t always make it the bottom of articles on subjects I’m all too familiar with but the humor element kept me going. So glad I own my own business in a red country setting and none of this nightmare ideology has crept in. And it never will. I’m also my own HR department and I discriminate-I don’t hire idiots.
You'd probably call me a commie (and be wrong), but you are a funny writer (my highest compliment) and spot on about the fact that this is bullshit that requires mockery.
(side note-take a couple minutes to remember the possessive/plural rules--the mistakes interrupt your otherwise exquisite flow)
When I get a full time job, I'll send you money and engage on your serious points.
Great essay! Living in Karenland (modern-day Globohomo American Empire), it's always refreshing and encouraging to compare notes with someone else willing to point out the obvious about the emperor's new clothes. At my own job, we have outdated, buggy-as-hell technology; ballooning backlogs of work, with lots of folks retiring or leaving during the scandemic but not getting replaced; inefficient work processes and policies that require some senior management involvement to fix (and none of them are interested); morale is at an all-time low; but guess what? I got an email just yesterday from the Department of Karens advising me of their plans to fix all of this by...giving everyone mandatory training about...wait for it!...PRONOUNS! Yes, you'd think getting the underlying job done would be important, but no, we need to take even more time away from that to learn about how bad people feel if you don't validate their psychotic delusions that wearing a dress and makeup (but keeping your male genitalia) makes them a real-life woman. Welcome to clownworld!
Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this topic! I really enjoyed your take.
Watching Bernie blank on the equity-equality question and sensing the Twitter shitstorm he was about to create was noteworthy.
He didn’t even employ the ‘respond by answering a question that wasn’t asked’ deflection technique that politicians are so disgustingly skilled at executing.
As someone who works at a fortune 500 company, this is spot on. Thankfully I'm fairly insulated from this stuff since I'm a programmer, but still

So well said in so many ways - maybe more than one column here - but all of them worth reading. Many of us are screaming quietly inside.
