As my readers know, I went through a severe, though temporary, depression with the completion of the HBO show, Succession. Aside from being one of the best-written and acted shows in history, it casts an insightful eye at many of the crevices in our modern culture wars and is well worth spending a few minutes exploring some of them.
To join me in that assessment, I asked fellow Succession superfan and Substack superstar, Yuri Bezmenov, to join me in a discussion. Yuri is the proprietor of the hilarious How To Subvert Subversion with Yuri Bezmenov, where, as we do here on Sub/Verses, he attempts to mock the leftist mind virus into submission.
In this discussion, Yuri and I discuss my Winnie-the-Pooh theory of the show, how Succession mirrors Yuri’s experiences living in NYC during election night 2016, how the show’s representation of corporate culture is spot-on, and their prediction of the downfall of clickbait media (Vox, Buzzfeed, etc.).
If you are a fan of Sub/Verses, you will undoubtedly enjoy Yuri’s work as well, so I highly recommend that you check it out.
Until next time
